Arriveptal in Hong Kong

The local time here is Wednesday, July 7 7:40 a.m. I have arrived here in Hong Kong. Wow is the humidity ever stifling--it's like walking into a wall of steam. This will take some getting used to. The flight was a butt-numbing 13 hours long! I'm all mixed up since I really did not sleep through the night.

My first meal with chopsticks--noodle soup. After watching the experts, I've come to realize that bowls are placed right up to the mouth and a huge sluurrrppp is then accomplished. Chopsticks seem to help shovel in the noodles. I am not sure if there is an art to this or not. I'm not sure if the louder the slurp the better you are with noodles or if that just shows appreciation to the cook. In any case, I'm no where near an expert.

Hong Kong airport seems like a typical airport, although there are more masks on personnel and there is a kiosk for temperature checks before you go on to transfer to different flights. They have a DisneyLand store here. I'm wondering if Mickey Mouse sings "It's a small world after all" in Mandarin?

Well, since there's no Tim Hortons, and I need something to keep me awake, I think I will search for some really strong mocha flavoured caffeine fix. Man, I miss my iced caps already!!

  1. Send a message by email. Hope you will get either one, or both.
After your return you will be able to teach us alternative ways of eating noodle soup.
    Looking forward to that one.
As always you are in our thoughts.
    Lots of love, Mom.
